Thank you to one of our esteemed Maryland Squash members and team coach of Roland Park Country School (RPCS), Pat Wong, for sharing pictures and notes from an exciting weekend of National Championship matches for our Maryland High School Girls!
We share this note given the many volunteers involved from Maryland along with the scores of parents participating and cheering for their daughters and teams recently in Philadelphia. Thank you for showing your Maryland Squash pride!
In the first year of the IAAM, we had 5 Girl's Schools programs participate in the US High School Squash Nationals in late February in Philadelphia - with venues downtown including the likes of the new National Squash center, and the all-glass courts at the University of Pennsylvania (IAAM = The Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland). The five participating Maryland schools were Bryn Mawr, Garrison Forest, McDonogh, Roland Park Country School and St. Paul's School for Girls.
Notably, Squash is the ONLY High School sport where every team in the country meets in one place to play and determine national ranking.
Congratulations to all of our Players, Coaches and 'Supporting Casts'! Bryn Mawr finished 13th in the country (congrats to Coach Brendler), McDonogh finished 31st and RPCS finished 42nd, SPSG placed 48th, Garrison Forest placed 63rd. There were 80 total Girls High Schools competing at Nationals.
